September brought a vibrant season of renewal and milestone gatherings across South Africa for The Peacock Tree NPC. The month was highlighted by the first national Bhakti Yoga Society (BYS) student retreat in over a decade, held at Banana Beach Holiday Resort on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The "Inner Adventure" retreat brought together 66 students and facilitators from Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Klerksdorp for a weekend of yoga, beach kirtans, and philosophical discussions led by His Holiness S.B. Keshava Swami and His Holiness B.S. Gauranga Swami. Meanwhile, on campus, WuSA House served as a bustling hub during a visit from Harinama Ruci, while the University of Johannesburg (UJ) BYS sessions continued drawing 60 to 100 students per session across multiple campuses.

In community outreach, the celebrated Soweto Ratha Yatra returned on September 26, carrying Lord Jagannatha through the streets of Soweto. A 25-seater bus brought devotees from Hammanskraal and Klerksdorp to join the procession, including nearly 22 local Klerksdorp community members who participated in traditional dress. Earlier in the month, ISKCON Klerksdorp hosted HH S.B. Keshava Swami for a vibrant Sunday service on "The ABCD of Spiritual Life," energizing local congregants despite tight operational budgets. In Hammanskraal, Food For Life meals and public kirtans continued steadily alongside urban book distribution in Pretoria.

Behind the scenes, the Book Bhakti initiative achieved a major milestone by printing and launching 5,000 copies of the new pocket-sized Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita Handbook, edited by HH Jayadvaita Swami and offered at Srila Prabhupada’s Vyasa Puja. Over 800 handbooks were distributed in its first month. Financially, September’s outreach funds were led by WuSA House (37.1%), Klerksdorp (23.9%), BYS (20.1%), and retreat travel (10.9%). From campus retreats to chariot processions, September demonstrated the profound impact of grassroots spiritual community across South Africa.
