1990s – Srimati Radharani’s Appearance Day in Radhadesh

In Padyāvalī verse 74, Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī says:

“I am not a brāhmaṇa, a kṣatriya, a vaiśya, or a śūdra.
Nor am I a student, a householder, a forest-dweller, or a renunciant.
I identify only as the servant of the servant of the servant
of the lotus feet of the Lord of the gopīs,
Śrī Krishna, who is the ocean of all nectar and supreme bliss.”

When we contemplate this verse, we are reminded that our true identity lies far beyond temporary labels — beyond nationality, profession, gender, or social role. This mood of utter humility and pure devotion is the essence of bhakti. It teaches us that spiritual advancement begins when we let go of ego and external identification, and joyfully embrace our eternal relationship with the Lord. The soul’s natural position is service — not out of obligation, but out of love.

In the bhakti tradition, especially as taught by Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī and Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī is understood to be the greatest of all servants of Lord Krishna. Rādhārāṇī is the embodiment of pure devotion – the topmost example of humility, love, and service.
All other devotees, directly or indirectly, serve Krishna under Her guidance and mercy.
