Chance of Liberation
We think we are doing well in this life, but Krsna gives us indications, such as natural disasters or personal struggles, to remind us that we are on the wrong path. Krsna is trying to help us realize that we should not waste any more time and should take up a spiritual life, so we can have a chance for liberation in this lifetime.

Vedic Society vs. Modern Society
The Vedic society was once the predominant culture all over the world, with a rich history and culture. Its principles were to elevate mankind and bring society to self-realization, avoiding mere sense gratification. On the other hand, the principles of modern society often focus on earning money, getting a good education, and constantly engaging our senses. There is no guiding principle for bringing mankind to a higher platform of consciousness.
