The Kadamba Foundation, a spiritual and cultural organization established in February 2023 by His Holiness Kadamba Kanana Swami, has unveiled its inaugural annual report. The Foundation, created by Kadamba Kanana Swami and his disciples to preserve his legacy following his passing on 9 March 2023, reflects on its first year of activities and achievements in this milestone document.
The report highlights the Foundation’s ongoing mission to publish, promote, and distribute spiritual music, books, and other media while managing copyrights, royalties, and translations across multiple languages. Among its key accomplishments, the Foundation announced the publication of four new books: Wonderful Krishna (Ukrainian), Forever Present (Czech), Guru & Disciple (Telugu), and Devotional Service (Dutch).
Kadamba Kanana Swami, whose vision continues to guide the Foundation’s work, had expressed his desire for the organization to continue spreading Krishna consciousness through its activities. “One of the things which over the years have developed is that we have published various books and music CDs. And we are now creating the Kadamba Foundation, which will hold the copyright to these items; the books and CDs,” he explained in a video before his passing. “I hope that in this way we can continue to contribute to spreading Krishna consciousness. A secondary purpose over the years has been supporting preaching projects in South Africa, particularly for African devotees.”
The annual report outlines five key initiatives undertaken by the Foundation over the past year. These include the Samadhi and the festival that took place on April 9, 2023, to honor the passing of Kadamba Kanana Swami; the Vintage Restoration Project, which focuses on digitizing audio cassette tapes of classes from 1996 and earlier into a modern digital format; efforts in media archiving; the auctioning of electronic devices owned by His Holiness; and the development of preaching initiatives in Africa, a cause that was particularly dear to Kadamba Kanana Swami.
Financially, the Foundation reports a total of €46,321 in donations over the past year, with €31,410 contributed by disciples, €9,957 from non-disciples, and €4,864 from general donations, which include anonymous contributions or funds raised for the Samadhi monument and festival. The report also details various income sources, including streaming revenue from digital platforms.
The Foundation’s social media presence has seen significant growth. Its YouTube channel now boasts 2.1 million views and over 184,000 hours of watch time, with subscriber numbers increasing from 6,871 to 18,870. On Spotify, the average listener is between 18 and 59 years old, with a demographic split of 40% female and 60% male, and the majority of listeners based in India, the U.S., Brazil, the U.K., and Australia.
